Icy Highway 54 to Blame for Pedestrian’s Death

A Liberal man lost his life after a car slid off Highway 54 and hit him Sunday evening west of Meade. Seventy-one year old Raul Michel was attaching a tow chain between two vehicles which had slid into the ditch when a pickup slid off the road and struck Michel and two cars.

The crash occurred at about 6 p.m. Sunday evening eight miles west of Meade. Michel was taken to the hospital in Meade and was pronounced dead at about 7:15 p.m. Sunday evening. No one else received major injuries in the crash.
