Home Not So Sweet for Skins

KSCB News - September 12, 2012 7:12 am

As Liberal’s soccer players huddled before their home opener Tuesday night, some of them said this is a new season. And who could blame them for saying that after a 1-3 start away from the LK and playing in a stadium in which they had never lost.

But the Dodge City Red Demons had other ideas. Dodge came to town and handed the Redskins their first loss in Redskin Field 1-0. Dodge snuck a goal from the right past goalie Ricardo Castro into the north net at the 14:44 mark in the first half. Liberal hit the cross bar of the goal on multiple occasions in the second half. But they still don’t have a goal other than a penalty kick against Wichita South in their one overtime win.

The Redskins are 1-4 and 0-2 in the WAC while Dodge City is 3-2 and 1-0 in the WAC. They host 5-1 Garden City Thursday night at 6 p.m. at Redskin Field.
