Home Damaged As Possible Tornado Roll Through Panhandle

KSCB News - June 12, 2011 3:39 pm

At least one home was damaged but no injuries were reported when a possible tornado moved through the Oklahoma Panhandle.

The National Weather Service had a preliminary report of a tornado 5 miles north of Boyd in Beaver County Saturday night.

Beaver County Emergency Management Director Keith Shadden says officials aren’t sure if a twister or strong, straight-line winds blew the windows out of a residence in the county. The home’s occupant wasn’t hurt.

Tornado warnings also were issued for Ellis and Woodward counties, but no tornadoes were immediately confirmed. Woodward County Emergency Management Director Matt Lehenbauer (LEE’-en BOW-er) says numerous trees and power poles were damaged, knocking out power to residents in northern Ellis County.

Oklahoma Gas and Electric reported 2,223 outages, 1,806 of those in Shattuck
