Highway 54 Crash Injures Meade Man

Brock Kappelmann - December 15, 2017 6:06 am

A crash west of Fowler on Highway 54 sent at Meade man to the hospital Thursday evening.  The Kansas Highway Patrol reports a semi was headed east on 54.  A car driven by 92 year old Menno Friesen of Meade was going west on 54.  The semi attempted to pass two other vehicles but did not have enough room to do so.  The car attempted to go toward the shoulder to avoid hitting the semi.  The car then struck the trailer of the semi on the drivers side.  Friesen was injured and taken to Meade District Hospital with injuries.  The crash occurred shortly before 6 p.m. almost a mile west of Fowler.
