Hargrove will be Inducted to NBC Hall of Fame

KSCB News - July 30, 2009 12:00 am

Mike Hargrove has brought a great amount of media attention and credibility to the National Baseball Congress. Saturday night he will be rewarded for it. The NBC will induct the second year BJ manager into their hall of fame Saturday night before the Bee Jays play the Midnight Sun Goldpanners. Hargrove played for the BJ’s in 1972 and managed them to a fourth place finish at the NBC World Series last year. He joins former BJ manager Bob Cerv and former BJ pitcher Ron Guidry on the in the NBC Hall of Fame. This year’s BJ’s will play in the NBC World Series. The BJ’s are 27-18 overall.

The BJ’s were rained out at Dodge City last night but invited them to play at Liberal. Dodge City didn’t make the trip and Jayhawk League Commisioner Bob Considine says that makes it a forfeit which would make Liberal 18-14 in the Jayhawk League.

Bee Jay General Manager Bob Carlile says the NBC told him the Bee Jays will open play in the NBC Tournament Tuesday night and would play Friday if they were able to win. Liberal’s game Saturday night against the Goldpanners is part of the NBC World Series schedule, but not part of the tournament. KSCB will broadcast the game with the Dugout Show at 7:15 Saturday night on Talkradio 1270 and kscb.net.
