Guymon City Council Gets Update On Construction Projects

The Guymon City Council met Thursday evening for their regularly scheduled meeting to cover a variety of topics on the agenda.

To start things off, Mayor Jim Norris did a presentation of proclamation declaring November as “Month Without Hunger.”

Next was a presentation by Timberlake Construction with Ken Stonecipher leading the presentation. He presented the council with a list of information on the progress and change orders for the construction of the Fire Station, Library and Arts Center, and the Animal Shelter, all currently being built in Guymon.

The fire station parking area pour is now 70% complete, and the tilt up concrete is 80% complete. Metal framing is 85% complete while electrical and plumbing rough in are 65% complete. Change order is expected for additional electrical and cable, and Stonecipher said the job is on time and on budget to date.

For the Library, tilt up concrete and metal framing are both complete and electrical, plumbing and HVAC rough in is 95% complete. Roof dry in is 65% complete and the sheetrock is scheduled for Nov. 19. Parking lot pours have now started. Change order is expected for doors between cafe and main library as well as windows in offices that will allow the library workers to look out into the stacks from their offices and for others to be able to see in. This job is also on time and on budget to date.

The animal shelter framing is complete and roof is dried in. The roof metal is expected next week. Block is 95% complete, while electrical and plumbing rough in are now complete. The sheetrock is scheduled for the animal shelter on Nov. 19 as well. Change order is expected for ceilings in drive through and lobby area and the job is on time and on budget to date.

The council then went on to approve the contractor’s application for payment No. 5 (Library) and No. 6 (Animal Shelter and Fire Dept.) for a total of $1,116,259.98 for Timberlake Construction.
