Governor Announces Appointments to Commissions and Boards

Kansas Governor Sam Brownback today announced appointments to boards and commissions.

“I am proud to announce these Kansans to their respective boards and commissions,” Governor Brownback said. “I am confident that these individuals will utilize their experience and expertise in their respective trades to work to make Kansas even better.”

Kansas Advisory Committee on Trauma

The Kansas Advisory Committee on Trauma advises the Secretary of Health and Environment on the development and implementation of a statewide trauma system. The ACT is composed of 24 members including representation from physician organizations, the Hospital Association, the State Nurse Association, and EMS organizations. Members of the committee have significant expertise and commitment to EMS and Trauma Care, and represent both urban and rural interests.

· John Ralston, Liberal, is currently the Director of Seward County Emergency Medical Services, an Emergency Room Nurse at Southwest Medical Center and a Seward County Community College Instructor and Coordinator of EMS Education. His education includes an Associates of Applied Science in Fire Service Administration, an Associates of Science in Nursing, an Associates of Arts, and a Bachelors Degreee in Human Resource Management.

Kansas Animal Health Board

The Kansas Animal Health Board is a nine member board appointed by the governor. Members serve in an advisory capacity to the livestock commissioner. Their work aids the commissioner in determining policies and plans relating to his office.

· Thomas Frederick, Hugoton, is currently the Owner of Prairie View Farms, LLC. – a 60,000 head hog finishing operation in Kansas. He is a graduate of Illinois State University with a B.S. in Agricultural Business.
