Gas Industry Converges on Liberal

KSCB News - April 21, 2009 12:00 am

The 57th Gas Compressor Institute began Tuesday at the Seward County Event Center in Liberal. Oklahoma Corporation Commissioner Dana Murphy was Tuesday’s keynote speaker. Organizers say this year’s conference offers an opportunity for technicians to learn the latest in Caterpiller Gas Engine Technology with four classes specifically set up for those topics and taught by factory authorized personnel. The classes run Tuesday and Wednesday. Other sessions include ź??Screw Compressor Fundamentals,ź?ť ź??Reciprocating Compressor Fundamentals,ź?ť ź??Panel Board Troubleshooting,ź?ť ź??Motivational Safety,ź?ť ź??Screw Compressor Maintenance and Operation,ź?ť ź??Reciprocating Compressor Maintenance and Operations, ź??PLC Automation,ź?ť ź??Bustinź?? Your Nuts: certified theory of industrial bolting and tool safety seminar,ź?ť and Screw/Reciprocating Compressor Alignment.ź?ť

ź??We know everyone in this industry is busy and expected to do more work with fewer resources,ź?ť said GCI Chairman Terry Hall. ź??We think this slate of courses and Liberalź??s location provides a win/win for users in the 5-State Region. Some of these courses would normally require a trip to a factory somewhere. Having these sessions right here in Southwest Kansas is good ź??bang for your buck.ź?ť

Funds generated by your attendance at the Institute provide scholarships for students with an interest in the oil and gas industry at Seward County Community College/Area Technical School.
