First Place Duck Wins With Eas(ley)

KSCB News - September 19, 2009 12:00 am

Liberal Chamber of Commerce Duck Race 2009 is now one for the books. After a hugely successful Duck Race Festival at Bluebonnet Park on Saturday, all eyes were on Ducky Downs. Several people stayed at Blue Bonnet Park to cheer on their favorite duck in hopes of walking away with at least a portion of the $10,000.00, if not the top prize of $6,000.00. The first duck through the chute and walking away with the $6,000.00 was a duck purchased by Vickie Easley. Vickie was at the race sitting just a few yard away from the finish line. She let out a huge yell when her name was announced. In second place was Lidia Gray’s duck, she receives $2,0000.00. Third through the chute was a “Blue Duck” and it was a duck belonging to none other than Bill Hill. Bill wins $1,000.00. Taking fourth and $500.00 was Danna Legeiter’s duck. The “Hard Luck” duck picked from the back of the pack, was just half a duck, but all the numbers were in tact, and belonged to Brandon Johnson. Executive Director Rozelle Webb tauted the day “Perfect”.
