Entries Still Being Accepted For Pancake Day Recipe/Cooking Contest

KSCB News - February 15, 2012 8:30 am

The deadline to enter the Pancake Day cooking and recipe contest is 5 p.m. Thursday, and as of Tuesday, very few entries had been received. Contest organizers would like to encourage those who like to cook to take a chance and enter the contest.
A total of cash and prizes valued at more than $400 will be awarded to the winners. The contest is open to anyone age 12 or older living within a 70-mile radius of Liberal.
Entrants are to create a unique dish using any type of pancake mix. The dish can be savory or sweet, a main, side, or dessert dish, a twist on traditional pancakes, or something totally the opposite of the “pancake” concept, as long as all rules are followed.
Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place, with entries judged on taste, originality and creativity, use of product and appetite appeal.
First prize is a $250 gift card to cooking.com and Pancake Day merchandise. Second prize is a $50 gift card to cooking.com and Pancake Day merchandise and third prize is a $25 gift card to cooking.com and Pancake Day merchandise.
Those interested in entering may pick up entry forms at the Liberal Convention and Tourism Bureau, One Yellow Brick Road, or from the web site: www.pancakeday.net. Entries must be turned in at the Liberal Convention and Tourism Bureau by 5 p. m., Thursday, Feb. 16. Contestants will be given a copy of the contest rules when they register. Entrants must prepare their dishes ahead of time and bring them to the Knights of Columbus Hall Saturday morning, Feb. 18. The contest will follow the flipping and eating competitions.
The public is invited to attend and to sample the dishes after winners are announced.
