Enrollment Continues to Increase at USD 480 Schools

KSCB News - October 6, 2015 6:03 am

Enrollment continues to rise at Liberal’s schools. The USD 480 school board met last night and heard a report on enrollment. There are 4,866 kids K-12 at Liberal’s schools. That is up 40 kids from last year. There are 5,079 students counting pre K kids.

The board authorized the district to purchase two activity buses for no more than 125 thousand dollars. These will be 44 passenger buses added to the fleet and are smaller than the district’s "Big Reds."

The board toured the future Eisenhower Middle School site on north western. They are still a bit behind schedule due to rain in the spring and summer. There are concrete issues that still need to be resolved so the board voted to have an independent test performed on the concrete footings.

The board discussed security cameras as some haven’t been working properly. The district is looking at newer equipment to replace aging cameras. They hope to have this issue settled by the end of the month or by early November.
