Doctors Open Practice In Liberal

Southwest Medical Center is proud to announce the arrival of husband and wife team: Dr. Larry and Dr. Eve Shank.

The couple arrived in Liberal this month and will begin seeing patients at their offices located at 555 W. 15th Street July 5.

Appointments have already been coming in for the duo.

Dr. Larry Shank is an Orthopedic Surgeon and Dr. Eve Shank is a Ear, Nose and Throat physician. They moved to Liberal from Goodyear, Arizona.

The couple, who has two children who are both currently in college, have not only medicine, but also a sense of humor in common. However, they each also have their “own story”.

Dr. Larry Shank had been in private practice at Valley Orthopedics in Goodyear, Arizona, for the past 10 years and for two years at Rim Country Bone and Joint in Payson, Arizona.

Prior to working in Arizona, he was in private practice in Tennessee from 1997 to 1999. He spent 14 years, from 1985 to 1997 serving in the United States Army.

Larry received his medical doctorate from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 1984 and his bachelor of science at Stanford University in 1980.

In his spare time he enjoys playing golf and flying. He is very involved in church and wants to continue that here, along with becoming more involved with the local community and sports programs.

Patients who choose Shank for their orthopedic needs can expect that he will want to “get to know them”.

“Of course there is a time constraint on visit time when patients come for an appointment,” he said. “But I like to spend as much time with each patient as I can so that I can get to know them and better assess their needs.”

While in Arizona Dr. Eve Shank had been practicing at Maricopa Integrated Health Services in Phoenix, Arizona since 2007. Prior to that, she was a physician on staff at the Phoenix Indian Medical Center.

She did locum Tenens from 1998 to 2002 and was in private practice in Manhattan, Kansas from 1993 to 1997. She served in the United States Army from 1985 until 1993.

Eve received her medical doctorate from Tufts Medical School in Boston Massachusetts in 1984 and her bachelor of arts degree from the University of California in San Diego in 1979.

Both Dr. Larry and Dr. Eve Shank will begin seeing patients July 5 in their offices located at 555 West 15th Street in Liberal.
