Deadly Shooting Near Guymon Investigated

KSCB News - October 26, 2015 8:25 pm

The investigation into the deadly weekend shooting of a 39-year-old man near Guymon is now ongoing, according to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI.)

That man was identified as Keenan Rice.

Saturday evening, the Texas County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a man saying he had shot another man in his driveway. Investigators then arrived on scene and started to collect information and evidence.

The man accused of shooting Rice said Rice had started chasing and tailgating him near Highway 54 and Main Street in Guymon, the OSBI said. According to the OSBI, the man said Rice was trying to run him off the road. The man was able to make it to his home just east of County Road 26 and County Road X,

investigators said. The man told investigators Rice immediately pulled behind him, blocking him inside his driveway. OSBI said the man told Rice he did not want any trouble and to leave. That’s when the man told investigators that Rice charged at him. The man then fired a handgun at Rice, hitting him several times, OSBI said.

Rice died at the scene.
