Colvin Family Center for Allied Health poised to open

KSCB News - October 2, 2019 9:10 pm

by RACHEL COLEMAN

As the opening date for the newly-constructed Colvin Center for Allied Health nears, naming opportunities remain available for the state-of-the-art health services education building on the main campus of Seward County Community College.

“We are so grateful to all the donors who have made this possible through the SCCC Foundation’s Capital Campaign,” said college president Dr. Ken Trzaska. “The finishing touches, fixtures, furniture, and the remaining tweaks to the building are being completed at this point, and we welcome community donations to keep this first-rate project under budget.” Throughout the campaign, Trzaska noted, college administrators and the SCCC Board of Trustees worked closely with the Foundation, architects, and construction firm to trim costs.
“Primary funding for this beautiful building came through earmarked donations, yet we are always mindful of our responsibility to taxpayers and the community,” Trzaska said.

“That’s an area where we are incredibly appreciative of Vice President of Finance and Operations Dennis Sander, who attended to all the details, both in terms of budget and in overseeing the building process.”
Sander, who continues to monitor the final stages of construction and move-in details, said he is pleased with the community support. He noted multiple donations from local individuals, families, and business interests, which will make the building useful and beautiful.
While final move-in details are yet to be announced, college administrators are confident students from all four Allied Health fields of study will be installed and learning on the main campus by the end of this semester.
