Cimarron Man Dies In Plane Crash

The Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal plane crash in Russell County.
It happened around 12:20 p.m. Sunday, north of Wilson Lake near Mellard Road and 200th Street. Troopers identify the pilot as Rufus Woods III, 65, of Cimarron.
Russell County Sheriff John Fletcher stated that the FAA will go to the crash site Monday to try to determine what may have caused Woods single engine Van-RV8 to crash.
No one else was on board the plane at the time of the accident.
