Census Data To Be Released Today

KSCB News - March 3, 2011 8:16 am

Officials in Kansas are waiting for federal census data that will show how the makeup of the state’s population has changed and which cities and counties are growing or shrinking.

They expect the figures to show that the state’s Hispanic population continued growing over the past decade and that many Kansas counties have lost population.

The U.S. Census Bureau says it expects Gov. Sam Brownback and legislative leaders to receive the information Thursday, with a public release planned by mid-afternoon. The bureau says it will include detailed information about changes in population in counties, cities and smaller geographic areas.

The Census Bureau says it also is sending detailed information about racial and ethnic groups.
