Broncbusters Sink Saints

KSCB News - April 13, 2009 12:00 am

Nothing went right for the Saints Saturday in Garden City. Even the rain didn’t arrive in time. Garden City humbled Seward 9-2 in game one and 10-2 in game two. The Saints drop three of four in the series and fall to 13-11 in the Jayhawk West. In game one, the Broncbusters (31-13, 16-8) led 9-0 going to the top of the seventh. After six errors Friday, the Saints made three more errors. Garden scored in all but one inning and scored four in the third. The Busters chased starter Austin Terhune after two and two-thirds innings marking the second consecutive game the Saints starting pitcher didn’t make out of the third. In game two, the Saints built a 2-0 lead going to the bottom of the second. GCCC tied the game in the second and took a 3-2 lead in the third which stood until the fifth when the Busters plated six runs. Seward is 26-16 and will play at Clarendon Wednesday. The Saints are in fifth place in the Jayhawk West and hosts Hutchinson Saturday and Sunday. Game one both days will air at 1 pm on Talkradio 1270 and kscb.net.
