BJ’s Bolster Roster for NBC World Series

The Liberal Bee Jays are adding five players to their roster for the NBC World Series. Three of them are pitchers including right handed pitchers K-State’s Brandon Faulkner and Matt Applegate. Missouri Western righty Blake Thomas will join the team. Third baseman Oscar Sigala from the Dodge City A’s and Vienna Virginia’s corner infielder Nick Kuroczko.

Applegate went 3-1 with a 1.95 ERA for Junction City. Applegate went 2-2 with a save for Kansas State as a freshman. He is 6′ 175 pounds from Wichita North High School.

Brandon Faulkner went 5-1 with a 2.95 ERA for Junction City. He pitched at Allen County in Iola this spring. He completed his sophomore year at Allen County. He went 7-4 with a 3.35 ERA at Allen. Faulkner is a native of Yates Center.

Oscar Sigala played third base for the Dodge City A’s and was one of the top players in the Jayhawk League this year. He hit .353 with three homers and 28 RBI’s. He played at New Mexico Highlands and hit .396 with twelve homers and 57 RBI’s in his junior year. He is from El Paso, Texas.

Right hander from Missouri Wester Blake Thomas pitched for the BJ’s last year. Thomas went 8-4 with a 2.69 ERA for the Griffons during his junior year. He is 5’11” 170 pounds and is from Raymore, Missouri.

Nick Kuroczko played for the Vienna Senators this summer. He hit .317 with three homers and 27 RBI’s. The Utah Ute from San Rafael, California hit .353 with six homers and 43 RBI’s during his junior year.

The Bee Jays are 28-18 overall and finished 18-14 in the Jayhawk League. They begin play in the tournament Tuesday night at 7:30 after an exhibition game against the Fairbanks Goldpanners Saturday night at 7:30 on Talkradio 1270 and kscb.net.
