Bee Jays-A’s Game Suspended Due to Lightning

KSCB News - July 15, 2009 12:00 am

The Liberal Bee Jays had an 8-2 lead Tuesday in Dodge City against the A’s when bolts of lightning that had been flashing all around Cavalier Field started flashing right over the field. The game went under a lightening delay for around 45 minutes before it was officially suspended.

The game will remain suspended until July 26 when Liberal is scheduled to play a single game in Dodge City at 7 p.m. The teams will begin playing at 6 p.m. on the 26th to finish up Tuesday’s game before starting the regularly scheduled game that evening.

Technically the game could have been called a complete game since more then five innings had been played. However, both sides agreed to suspending it and allowing it to be finished on the 26th.

Bryce Baugh led the Bee Jays in the first seven innings going 3-4 at the plate with a home run and three RBI’s. Logan Odom pitched seven innings giving up just two runs with one of those coming unearned.

The A’s have not won a Jayhawk League game since June 18 when the defeated the Bee Jays in Dodge. They are 3-18 in the league.

The Bee Jays are 10-13 still in league play and will host Dodge City Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Brent Gould Field.

The game will air on Talkradio 1270 and kscb.net. Sunflower Bank will be the buyout sponsor.
