Base Running Blunders Costly in Loss

KSCB News - June 24, 2010 12:00 am

The BJ’s gave up four outs on the base paths on a night when they couldn’t afford to do so. The struggling El Dorado Broncos limped out of Brent Gould Field with a much needed 3-1 win over the Liberal BJ’s who have lost five of their last six games. On a night when offense was difficult to come by anyway, the BJ’s mustered only seven hits but lost four outs on the bases. The Bee Jays had two men picked off base and a player caught stealing twice. One of the caught stealing situations came with a 3-0 count on the hitter and seemed to puzzle manager John Martin.

College of Sequoias right hander Mike McBride worked four and one third innings allowing one run, three hits, three strikeouts, and one walk. The Bee Jays fall to 4-5 in the Jayhawk and 8-5 overall. The Broncos are 10-7 overall and 4-7 in the Jayhawk. The same two teams meet tonight at 7 p.m. on Brent Gould Field. The game will air on Talkradio 1270 and kscbnews.net. The Myriad Machine Shop is the buyout sponsor and will give away Meisenheimer’s Barbecue sandwiches to the first 100 fans.
