Barnes Joins Elite Club in Homecoming Victory

KSCB News - February 22, 2010 12:00 am

Rachel Barnes became one of seven Lady Saints in history to score over one-thousand points in her career Saturday night in Seward’s 93-50 win over Dodge City in front of a big Green House crowd. Barnes joins Tegan Cunningham (1,368), Jamie Talbert (1,274), Kim Ortega (1,267), Tracy Wynn (1,154), Stacy Wewe (1,141), and Alyson Uppendahl (1,029) in the one-thousand point club. Barnes led the way with 23 points and 13 rebounds for Seward (26-2, 13-1). Megan Lassley added 15 points, five assists, and no turnovers. Kendra Spresser dropped in 13. Sumr Robinett added 10 points and seven rebounds. Seward head coach Toby Wynn says Barnes should feel good about the accomplishment. “It’s a tribute to her to says she’s accomplished something not many have accomplished here at Seward County,” Wynn said after Seward’s eighth straight win over the Lady Conqs (4-25, 2-13). “She’s worked really hard at it and put her time in.” The Lady Saints have a showdown with Garden City (11-3 in the Jayhawk West) Wednesday at 5:30 on B107.5 and kscbnews.net.
