Balko Girls Celebrate Record Setting Season

Everywhere you look at Balko High School, there’s a reminder of what has been accomplished. The Balko Lady Bison are going to the Big House at the Fairgrounds for the Class B state tournament Thursday for the first time in school history. Balko is 24-3 and plays Red Oak at 8:30. Sophomore guard Jaylee Mays is 5’5" but leads the Lady Bison at 18 points per game. Freshman Madison Dearmin aveages 10 points and seven rebounds per game. Junior Kelsie Stephens averages seven points and six rebounds per contest. Other key players include seniors Kyla Cowan, Jordie Jett, Monica Bennett, Sophie Mills, and sophomores Trista Jackson and Briana Brown. Coach Mitch Cowan is in his ninth season as head coach at Balko after coaching at Follett and Hardesty. He was a guest on the Sportsguys Tuesday morning.
