Baker Arts Center Gears Up For French Market

KSCB News - October 26, 2011 3:48 pm

A “Glistening Gala” is making its way to the Baker Arts Center in Liberal. Shoppes are being stocked, auction items are being placed, and meals are ready for preparation for the Center’s annual French Market which is slated for Saturday, November 5 th and Sunday, November 6 th .

The doors will be open on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. for shopping in the six diverse shoppes, bidding in the expansive silent auction, and dining at the two luncheons. Early bird shopping will be offered this year from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. for guests purchasing a $5 pass at the door.

The Sweet Shoppe beckons sweet-toothed shoppers with homemade baked and candied goods. The Holiday Spirits Shoppe welcomes those in need of libation accessories. The Wild Side Shoppe is filled with animal-print goods and the Red and Black Shoppe, vibrantly colored items. The Gently Used Shoppe boasts very gently used treasures and the Gift Shoppe will top off the shopping experience with the perfect holiday gifts.

The Silent Auction will feature items donated by business and individuals in the area, and across the state. Gift certificates for services plus toys, home décor and appliances, tools, art and more will be awarded to the highest bidder. The Silent Auction closes at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.

A Saturday luncheon will be served at three seatings: 11:00 a.m., 12:10 p.m. and 1:20 p.m. Paid reservations are required and are selling out quickly. Saturday’s meal includes a Slow Braised Beef Brisket with Cranberry Au jus and is $14.00.

Return Sunday to shop the remaining shoppes and check your silent auction bid. Sunday’s soup buffet is $8.00 and no reservation is needed. It will be served from noon until 1:30 p.m.

Proceeds of the French Market benefit the Baker Arts Center, and are especially important this year, due to the funding void made by the abolishment of the Kansas Arts Commission. Baker Arts Center is a nonprofit, charitable arts and cultural organization serving Southwest Kansas and the Oklahoma and Texas panhandles.

For tickets and more information call the Center at 620.624.2810 or visit 624 N Pershing Ave in Liberal. Visit the Center’s website at www.bakerartscenter.org and find it on Facebook.
