Backyard Blast A Huge Success

KSCB News - June 7, 2009 12:00 am

The Baker Arts Center held it’s annual membership drive kick off and Backyard Blast Saturday night. The night started off with a free hamburger meal to renewing members and new members, catered by Billy’s. Following the meal the Baker Art Center conducted their annual meeting. Entertainment for the evening was a 100% audience vote vocal competition. Votes were cast at a penny per vote with the top money raiser getting a 30 minute performance at the 2009 Kansas State Fair. Second place received a karoake machine, with third place taking home an mp3 player. Taking top honors for the night was Lorrie Cook of Forgan Oklahoma. In second was Jordan Urban of Liberal, followed by Chris Bobeda of Tyrone Oklahoma. The vocal competition alone raised over $1,300.00 for the Baker Arts Center. Several members also renewed their memberships for the year, with some new members added as well.
