Another Life Lost On Highway 54

A two vehicle fatality accident occured at approximately 6:14pm Tuesday evening, 11.5 miles east of Liberal on Highway 54. A
2001 Honda Civic being driven by Jeremiah Arevalo, 19, of El Paso Texas was traveling eastbound on US 54 when he crossed the centerline striking a 2009 Kenworth semi being driven Gary Bielma,68, of Colona Illinois. After impact both vehicles came to rest in the westbound ditch. Arevalo died at the scene. Bielma was not injured. Seatbelts were in use in both vehicles.
