DATELINE: HUGOTON, KS

John E. Kossuth III, age 45, died in Hugoton, Kansas. He was born June 24, 1966 in Hugoton, Kansas, the son of John Kossuth Jr. and Therlene (Johnson) Kindsvater.

 

John grew up in Hugoton and Ulysses; graduating from Ulysses High School in 1984. A carpenter, after high school he worked for Grant County Implement, camper division. After living in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for 21 years, John moved back to Hugoton in June 2011. He enjoyed listening to blues music, and was a DJ for Toys for Tots in Ulysses.

Survivors include his step daughter, Sharon Barnett of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; step grandson, Austin of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; father, John Kossuth Jr. of Ottawa, Kansas; his mother, Therlene Kindsvater of Hugoton, Kansas; grandmother, Zelma Kossuth of Hugoton, Kansas; uncle, Tommy Johnson; aunts, Mary Coker and husband Ben, Martha Arange, Kay McLain and husband David; and numerous cousins.

John is preceded in death by two brothers, Jason Kossuth, Jeffrey Kossuth; step-father, Loris Kindsvater; grandparents, Therman (Lefty) and Ilene Johnson; and grandfather, John Kossuth Sr.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Assembly of God Church in Hugoton with Reverend Ben Coats officiating. Interment will follow at the Hugoton Cemetery in Hugoton. Friends may call Friday, February 3, 2012 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Hugoton. Memorial contributions may be given to the donor’s choice in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 423 S Main, Hugoton, KS 67951.
