Wilbur Dean Decker: UPDATE

Hooker, Oklahoma

 

Wilbur Dean Decker, 78, of Hooker, Ok passed away May 3, 2013 at Baptist St. Anthony Hospital in Amarillo, Texas.

Wilbur was born September 27, 1934 near Hooker, Oklahoma, the son of Frank Leslie and Edna Bessie Willis Decker. He attended school at Hooker Public Schools.

He then began work for the Fischer Brothers, farming and working as their mechanic. For several years he worked for S&S Irrigation in Turpin, Oklahoma, before returning to farm his land, retiring the first of January 2013.

Wilbur Dean was united in marriage to Ida Mae Zordel in Ransom, Kansas at the Church of Christ on June 4, 1954.

Wilbur was a member of the Church of Christ in Hooker, Oklahoma. He enjoyed owning and shooting guns and experimented with them. He was always helpful with his neighbors, repair cars and equipment as well as irrigation engines. He was a member of the NRA-Golden Eagle.

Preceding him in death are his parents, his daughter, Naomi Knier, great granddaughter, Kara Rundles, brother, Marvin Decker and brother in law, Herbie Perry.

Survivors include his wife, Ida Mae Decker of the home; three daughters, Janice Louise McCann and husband Daniel of Hooker, Oklahoma, Sharon Kay Frittz of Elk City, Oklahoma, Shirley Ann Dennis and husband William of Hartman, Colorado; son in law, Donnie Knier of Hugoton, Kansas; sister, Imogene Perry of Platt City, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Janie, Kelly, Melissa, Kevin, Carrie, Bobbie, James, Daniel,Jr., Andrea and Lori; there are fifteen great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday May 7, 2013 at the Hooker Church of Christ with Matt Richardson officiating. Interment will be in the Hooker Cemetery directed by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker, Ok.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Hooker Ambulance Association or the Hooker Cemetery Fund and may be left at the Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745, Hooker, Oklahoma 73945.
