Dewayne Malone

Ulysses, KS

Dewayne Malone, 77, of Ulysses, Kansas died Friday, December 2, 2011 at his home in Ulysses, Kansas.  He was born April 14, 1934 in Ulysses, Kansas, the son of Jess and Blanche (Young) Malone.

 

Dewayne grew up in Ulysses and graduated from Grant County Rural High School and attended Ft. Hays State University.  He married Sally Stoskopf on December 21, 1952 in Ulysses, Kansas.  He was a Division Manager at Ulysses Irrigation Pipe for years.  He then started Malone Enterprises, working as a construction contractor.  Dewayne was a very active member in the Shelton Memorial Christian Church, serving as a deacon and an elder.  He was involved in Little League Baseball with his boys.  Dewayne always had a big garden and also loved to fish.    

 

He is survived by two sons, Scott Malone, Craig Malone and wife Mary Kay, all of Ulysses, Kansas; brother, Rex Dimitt of Savannah, Georgia; thirteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

 

Dewayne was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sally on June 4, 2011; two sons; Kirk Malone and Mark Malone; and one brother, George Malone.

 

Funeral service will be held Monday, December 5, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Shelton Memorial Christian Church in Ulysses, Kansas with Reverend Bill Harrold  and Pastor Kelly Gindlesberger officiating.  Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery.  Friends may call Sunday, December 4, 2011 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.  Memorial contributions may be given to the Shelton Memorial Christian Church Scholarship Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS  67880.
