Frances A. Simmons, 88, Hugoton, KS, died Wednesday, June 8, 2011
at Stevens County Hospital, Hugoton, KS.
She was born May 5, 1923 in Seward County, KS, the daughter of
James D. & Jessie E. Lamberson.
She attended school at Superior, Antelope and the Hitch Ranch School.
Frances had a love for cooking and baking, cooking for different local
cafes for many years and at the First Christian Church for eight years.
She was a care giver for the Schonover family for eight years.
She was a member of the Faith Tabernacle, Liberal, KS.
On October 16, 1940, she married Aron N. Carpenter at Liberal, KS.
She married Hardy Simmons February 16, 1967 at Beaver, OK, he died
June 22, 1984.
She is survived by three sons, Larry Joe Carpenter, Hugoton, KS;
David Carpenter and wife Sharon, Lowell, AR; Bill Manning and wife Connie, Dodge City, KS; six grandchildren,
fourteen great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and
two step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents,
four brothers, four sisters, son Gary John Carpenter, grandson, Aron David Carpenter, great-grandson Joshua Barker.
Funeral services will be conducted 10:30 A.M. Monday at the
Faith Tabernacle, with Rev. Rex Petty presiding.
Interment will be in the Arkalon Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Miller Mortuary 4-8 P. M. Saturday
and 1-8 P.M. Sunday.
