Aggie Baseball Drops Two

KSCB News - April 20, 2013 6:41 am

Ft. Smith, Ark.-The Oklahoma Panhandle State University baseball team
dropped both games of the doubleheader against conference rivals the
University of Arkansas-Ft. Smith Friday afternoon.

Lions pitcher Neil Smith tossed a complete game shutout in the first game,
striking out 10 and allowing only three hits in the 6-0 win. Alan Scott was
on the mound for the Aggies and also threw a complete game, giving up four
hits and striking out three. Nick Crosswhite, Ruben Aguirre, and Alfonso
Gonzalez each had one hit.

The Aggies struck first in game two as lead-off Chris McClendon singled,
advanced to second on a Casey Kettler sacrifice bunt, and then scored when
Alfonso Gonzalez singled. UAFS answered with a tying run in the first
inning, but then pulled ahead with three runs in the third and five more in
the fifth to take a 9-1 lead. OPSU’s Dominic DeJoseph got on with a single
in the fifth and Kettler singled to advance him to second. He made it safely
home when Ruben Aguirre singled, but that ended the scoring for the Aggies
as they lost 14-2. Losing pitcher Nolan Glasscock worked four innings,
allowing 10 hits and striking out one.

The third and final game is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday. Fans can keep
track of the game through live stats and may also purchase live video. Both
