Accident Causes Minor Injuries

On Thursday, September 19, 2019 at about 8:05 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of 15th and Pershing to an injury accident. Both vehicles had sustained heavy damage and were blocking the roadway.
Investigating officers learned that a black 2010 Chevy Impala, driven by a 19 year old female, had been westbound on 15th. The vehicle attempted to make a left turn onto Pershing but didn’t notice that there was an eastbound vehicle in the outside lane. The vehicle was struck by silver 2015 Kia Optima, driven by a 36 year old female.
The driver of the Impala reported minor injuries and was evaluated by EMS. She later declined further treatment. Both vehicles were disabled and had to be towed from the scene. The damage is estimated at over $1000. The driver of the Impala received a citation for failure to yield making a left turn.
