Guymon Woman Wins $25,000 In Oklahoma Lottery
02/08/2010

How would you react if you went in to your favorite convenient store and bought a simple little scratch off lottery ticket and walked out $25,000 richer? Guymon Daily Herald employee, Sandra (Padilla) Miller experienced that feeling first hand Monday, February 1.

She made her daily trip in to Dizzy B's that lucky morning for her Diet Dr. Pepper without any clue the turn her day was about to take. Without any cash in hand, she turned in a winning Shamrock ticket for $14 to pay for her drink and lottery tickets and headed back to her car.

As she scratched her "Texas hold em" ticket, she realized she had a royal flush and ran back into the store telling owner Jennifer Williams "I think I hit the jackpot!". Williams ran the ticket through the lotto machine and handed Miller a receipt that said "File your claim at the Oklahoma Lottery Commission".

"I was in shock! I was shaking! It's just unbelievable. I am a believer now.", said Miller.

Tuesday morning, she and her husband, Charles, made a trip to Oklahoma City

to claim her winnings.

After the state took 29 percent out in taxes, they cut Miller a check for $17,000. When asked what she was going to do with the money, she replied, "Pay off all of our credit cards. I want to be debt free! And I'm going to take a trip with my Mom and my sister to Santa Fe, New Mexico."

She is the first big winner out of Guymon.
