2 Vehicle Accident Injures 6

A 2 vehicle accident has sent 6 people to the hospital. The accident occurred at 11:04pm Thursday night 3 miles north of Turpin on Highway 83. a 2004 Chevy pick up being driven by Derek Scott Bozworth, 23, of Hooker OK, was westbound on Highway 64 when he failed to stop for a stop sign at the Highway 64 and Highway 83 intersection. The Bozworth pick up struck a 2003 Cadillac pick up being driven by Maribel Magallenes, 30, of Perryton, in the front fender and driver’s side door. Bozworth’s pick up ran off the right side of the road and overturned, coming to rest on it’s top. Magallanes’ pick up continued south bound, ran off the right side of the road, and struck a chain link fence.

Bozworth was taken to Southwest Medical Center with trunk internal injuries, and Magallanes was also taken to SWMC with head, leg, arm, trunk internal, and trunk external injuries. She is listed in stable condition. Passengers in the Magallenes vehicle were also transported to Southwest Maedical Center and they include, Jose Frias, 9, with a head injury, He was then life watched to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita in serious condition. Anthony Frias, 3, was also life watched to Wesley Medical Center with trunk internal injuries, while Isela Frias, 26, was taken to SWMC with head and internal injuries while 2 1/2 month old Karyme Solis was admitted to Southwest Medical Center with head injuries. Seat belts and Child restraints were in use in both vehicles. This accident was investigated by Trooper Derrick Stewart of the Beaver Detachment, with assistance from the Beaver County Sheriff’s Office, Beaver County EMS, Turpin Fire Department Seward County Fire Department, and Seward County EMS..
